{Brewer, Maine} – The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) recently announced that Troy Industrial Solutions (TIS) of Brewer, Maine was a recipient of the AISC Fabricator Award of Honor for 2022.
Tom Schlafly, Technical Representative for AISC stated in a release “The AISC Safety Committee is pleased to announce that your company has won an AISC Safety Award. This award is given for your record of hours worked with minimal days away and restricted time injuries in 2022! As an award winner you are a member who understands the value of safety and what it takes to achieve that successful record. The value of this award is that it acknowledges the efforts, large and small, that your company has made to operate in a safe and efficient way. “
AISC’s Safety Awards honor fabricators and erectors whose efforts to keep their employees safe and demonstrates their commitment. Only companies that truly put safety first receive an AISC Safety Award. The program recognizes performance measured in terms of Days Away, Restricted or Transferred Rate (DART). The DART is a measure of the number of recordable lost work cases per 200,000-man hours worked.
According to TIS’ CADD Design Manager, Nick A. Carter, “Achieving this level of safety is important for TIS in many ways. It shows we care about our team members and value them both in and out of the workplace. By maintaining this level of safety, we reduce general overhead costs, and we reduce safety-related lost time. This safety award demonstrates to our customers that we operate at a higher level of detail and discipline.” Internally, part of the TIS Brewer’s goal is to become part of the OSHA Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) thus further demonstrating TIS commitment to exemplary safety and health programs.
The AISC is a non-partisan, not-for-profit technical institute and trade association, established in 1921 to serve the structural steel design community and construction industry in the United States. TIS is recognized on the AISC website, the NASCC: The Steel Conference, and in an issue of Modern Steel Construction.
