The MACHINIST CNC PROGRAMMER is responsible for diagnosing, assessing, repairing, programming, resurfacing, or producing new motor or related equipment parts to address the customer’s need. Assists shop and service technicians with mechanical, electrical and rewind work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Review job orders that require machine work and provide estimate on time required for repair or fabrication to manager.
  • Repair or resurface broken and worn motor and related equipment parts that may include the use of lathes, mills, grinders and gas and electrical arc welders.
  • Fabricate required parts using any necessary equipment to specifications.
  • Travel to customer sites to cut keyways with portable mill, and other duties as assigned.
  • Read and interpret drawings/prints and to make parts to specification from prints.
  • Reverse engineer old or obsolete parts and recreate to proper specifications and materials.
  • Review shop and service mechanics’ micrometer readings when requested.
  • Assist shop or service technicians with mechanical or electrical repairs and motor rewinds. Provide backup to additional job functions were needed.
  • Maintain all machine shop equipment in good working order. Report any needed repairs/replacements.
  • Pick up and/or deliver parts/equipment for customer jobs.
  • Respond to all company and customer requests in a timely manner. Complete all work thoroughly, on time and to job specifications.
  • Follow all safety and housekeeping rules at company and customer sites. Report unsafe conditions and/or defective equipment promptly. Implement Safety Action Plans from department meetings. Operate all equipment safely and competently within specified guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with applicable mechanical/technical skill required. Two-year degree from a technical school or certificate from an industrial program preferred.
  • CNC programming in MasterCam required. Experience with grinders, mills, lathes and gas and electrical welders a plus. Military machinist experience desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/prints and to make parts to specification from prints.
  • Ability to reverse engineer old or obsolete parts and recreate to proper specifications and materials.
