Industrial Mechanic/Field Service Technician

The INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC trouble shoots, repairs, or installs industrial electro-mechanical equipment such as but not limited to: Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), AC and DC electric motors, pumps, gear reducers, and related industrial equipment. Vibration analysis and thermography knowledge would be highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Perform required work that may include mechanical repairs, cleaning, replacement of parts, machine work or place in queue for machine work, balancing or place in queue for balancing, reassembling, testing, painting or place in queue for painting.
  • Successfully handle all duties related to repair and installation of equipment in shop or in the field – e.g.:
    • Inspect and assess customer motors and other related equipment for service or repair requirements. This includes visual inspections and electrical testing.
    • Disassemble motors and/or equipment and determine extent of service and/or repair requirement
    • Order parts for jobs and to keep service vehicles supplied
    • Schedule vehicle repair and maintenance
    • Perform predictive maintenance as applicableVibration analysis and Thermal Imaging
    • Perform precision maintenance as applicableBalancing and Laser Alignment
  • Check with customers regarding job status and overall satisfaction
  • Communicate with designated Sales representative or Foreman/Supervisor on the assessment of services/repairs for customer approval of work and any additional needed services/repairs or delays in services/repairs
  • Review all job documentation and specifications to ensure accuracy of billing for labor and parts utilizing company systems
  • Interact with customers effectively, professionally, and as a representative of Troy Industrial in a manner that enhances the customer relationship
  • Maximize billable time and maintain equipment and vehicles to minimize down time
  • Optimize inventory, ensuring needed materials are available for customer jobs, and ensuring proper inventory turn
  • Ensure that all safety rules are followed at all times. Report safety concerns and injuries timely and accurately
  • Ensure that paperwork is completed timely, accurately.
  • Assist other technicians or seek assistance as needed.
  • Travel to customer sites and perform predictive and precision maintenance and repairs of motors and related equipment as needed.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and applicable mechanical/technical experience ideal
  • Two-year degree from a technical school or certificate from an industrial program preferred.
  • Military mechanical/technical experience desirable
  • Valid NY State Drivers License.
  • Demonstrated success and process/equipment knowledge, mechanical and technical aptitude in similar role.  Millwright experience is helpful.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical repair
  • Some experience with gas and electric arc welding.
